Workplace Threat Intervention Program

Today, employers must be prepared for any threats or acts of violence in the workplace. Employers need to protect their employees in order to avoid costly litigation and maintain the company’s credibility. Management must have emergency procedures in place and know how to respond, should a threat or violent incident occur.

Since workplace violence has increased tremendously within the last few years, ISS has responded to this demand for specialized security protection by creating the Hostile Employee Suppression Unit. This special team of law enforcement affiliated individuals protect you and your company personnel. These protection specialists carry concealed weapons and dress in attire appropriate to the assignment. They operate in a “low-key” manner and remain unobtrusive unless called upon for necessary intervention. In addition, staff psychologists and labor law professionals are available to assist you with your difficult workplace situation.

Workplace Threat Guidelines

According to a report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately fifteen percent of all violent crimes committed in the U.S. each year occur in the workplace. That means one million people each year are victims of some type of workplace violence. With these types of statistics, human resource professionals and persons involved in employee relations must be aware of the warning signs that signal a possible threat or violent situation. ISS’s Hostile Employee Suppression Division offers you the following guidelines:

1. Take all threats seriously.

2. Gather and document any relevant information on the subject from co-workers.

3. Seek assistance via E.A.P., labor attorneys, and ISS Protective Services.

4. Conduct a criminal background investigation on the subject.
